Work Week Wednesday: sleepy ramblings and picture hijacking
By dusanabotswana On May 4th, 2011Update: I ended up taking about an hour for this really simple post. My new summer resolution will be to get quicker at this.
Alrighty, so I’ve given myself exactly half an hour to write this post and put in an edit all of the pictures. Maybe that is how long it should take anyway. I don’t know but I do know that I took forever with yesterday’s post and went to bed so much later than I should have because of it. I’m also slightly sick- sinus infection number two or three since the New Year and at least number eight since September. Ugh. I know I need more rest and I haven’t been getting it. Last night I had to come home from work and finish something from home that took up about two hours of my evening (after getting home at nearly 8pm).
So, tonight I should be asleep by 11pm at the latest, I’ve told myself! I already have my “Sounds of the Ocean” CD Jonny found me at Goodwill playing and have my screen dimmed. Luckily also I get to sleep in an hour later tomorrow morning because I work from home on Thursdays. Since I’m a night showerer (I know, no one cares but just so you know I do shower sometimes) I wake up about 5 minutes before I should be working, throw on some comfy clothes, and get to work at our living room/kitchen table.
Not the most interesting but I’ve been wanting to try this dress with pants over it (I wore it as a skirt here). Now I realize that my bag doesn’t match the black, white and pink combo at all. Oh well. (PS- I hope this bamboo is just in “hibernation”)

Every week I cherish this extra hour of sleep I get every Thursday morning. I always think about though how so many of us want to sleep as late as possible, “just ten more minutes,” but it’s not like we rush to get to bed 10 or even 40 minutes earlier. Then again most people don’t sleep enough nowadays. I definitely don’t sleep as much as I should during the week and usually “make up for it” on the weekends by sleeping a ton but I’m always jealous of people who don’t need to sleep as much.
Aside from making me see that the bag doesn’t match these pictures also showed me that I could pin the dress in the back a bit for a better fit. Ok, actually a side pic showed me this but it’s a bit bad to show here. I kept my coat on all day at work though, for climate and “professional” reasons.

Sometimes I feel like there’s so much to do, obligations and fun, that getting in eight hours of sleep seems like a waste of time. But then there’s my body to remind me that no, it’s not a waste of time but the number one thing I can do for my health. One semester in college I had a really tough load and took a 7:40am class. I had a groupmate who was one of those super productive people who did a ton of things and got great grades and slept like 4 hours at most every night. So I tried to be like that, waking up around 6am to “be productive” until I realized that I was so out of it all day that I could just sleep a few more hours and do things quicker. Then there was the time for nearly a year where I had pretty regular insomnia… but I’ll save that topic for another day and only thing of sleepy things right now.
Sign above translate to “I’m a gardener not a garbage collector.” Guess people throw trash there. How sad.

Outfit details: shirt- dress worn as shirt (f21 awhile ago $4); jacket- f21 (gift from stepmom for new job); pants- Mango Outlet in Spain 2008 ($12); heeled oxfords- Bass; Liz Claiborne bag- thrifted ($1 tag sale)
I like thinking that early humans probably slept more like 10 hours a day and that scientists say 8 hours since it’s a more realistic number for most people. So, on that note, I’m hoping for a good 9 hours of sleep tonight so goodnight and get some sleep yourself!
PS- I’m going to Chicago this weekend for a promotional event for work! It’s the first time I’ve been to an event like this and I’m really excited to see how it goes and what they do (since I studied Marketing & Spanish). I am also super excited because two very special friends of mine happen to live in Chicago and should be able to stop by our event booth. It’s been nearly two years since I last saw them and I can hardly believe that it was four years ago that we met studying abroad in Spain and had an epic trip to Portugal that really formed our friendships.
So I’ll leave you with a few pictures from Portugal since the outfit ones weren’t too special. Hope you like them because hijacking them off my friend’s facebooks made me go over my time limit! Pictures below courtesy of Irina and Jessica, thanks when you see this!

Thanks for stopping by,
Dusana

Those black pants look really cute on you! And once again, the hair-wow!
I’ve always needed like 10 hours of sleep to function! I’m grateful that I’ve never had insomnia because sleeping is so good for your body. I’m also grateful the kids sleep a decent amount so I get at least 8 hours every night (not my optimal amt, but good enough for now!)

Thanks & thanks Meggy! I got the pants in 2008 in Spain because they were such a great deal & never had the confidence to live up the high-waisted thing until this school year.
I love how you appreciate sleep too!
