Work Week Wednesdays: pretend professional

By dusanabotswana On July 20th, 2011

I didn’t wear this to work today because, unfortunately, I am not employed yet, but I did wear it to an interview I had today, thus the title. The interview went well but alas, they’re looking for someone with a technical background so now I’ve got to get back into the job searching, big time.

I mean, I thought Goodwill would have been at my doorstep by now offering me a job with my post from last week raving about how much I love shopping there, not to mention the free and pretty advertising I gave them in front of their Dollar Day sign, but yeah, clearly somebody’s not keeping up on their social media, and it’s not me! Precisely why they should hire me! If anyone’s got any contacts in there please geta callin’ for me! haha if only things were that easy… well I guess in some countries they are, where everything is basically achieved by the people you know.

Sometimes I take a few super cheesy pictures just for kicks.

Only had to wait a week to use my new (to me) briefcase! I actually ended up taking this bracelet off for the actual interview to look as professional as possible, but certainly would (& did in Mexico) wear it at an actual job to add a bit more pop of color!

All pictures (except the bun one, that’s thanks to my mom) thanks to my dear friend Meghan. Phew, finally some different angles, thanks!

I almost always go for a simple, low bun with a side part for interviews. I think it looks pretty professional (despite a few loose hairs even!), takes two seconds to put up, and saves the fuss of having your hair look perfect for something important! Do you have any go-to hairstyles for important events?

Now, the best picture for last! Isn’t she the cutest thing ever? I got to swing by my friend Meghan’s house for a bit before returning my mom her car and not only was I fed delicious soup (who knew corn & potato could be so good together?) but got to see this sweety as well as her little brother. I’d be a teacher in two seconds if all kids were this sweet!

Outfit details: blouse- H&M winter sales, 2007! (no idea how much by now, $12?); skirt- thrifted ($1 tag sale); briefcase- thrifted ($4); bracelet- handmade from Mexico City artisan market; shades- TJMaxx ($10); shoes- Ross- gift from family.

Hope everyone’s week is going well! Mine sure has been soaring by!

Thanks for stopping by,

Dusana
