This weekend was practically spent doing nothing but working on my essays for grad school- totally insane how three two-page questions can consume so much time (and I’m still hard at work on them this week, so expect short posts in advance). I did though take a much-needed few hour break for a hike on Sunday. I had a nice time chatting and chuckling with a girl friend and cleared my head of nonsense a bit, as well as cleared a sandal of its sole- oops! I seriously thought these leather sandals would be invincible for a lifetime but then again, who knows the lifetime they went through before reaching my foot a few years ago.
Outfit details: shorts- vintage thrifted (25 cents baby!); sandals- thrifted 2009; woven bag- thrifted; belt (as headband) & bracelet- hand woven in Chiapas; top- hand-embroidered in Oaxaca, my non-profit shop.
Hiking also gave me the chance to sport this super silly hippie outfit (socks due to heel blister, not my favorite here). It was nice and breezy for the hike and I kept laughing at myself during my bike ride to and fro- crop top + me riding a bike = oh hey healthy little rolls that I’ve finally embraced ; )
This was actually topic of conversation during out hike- our bitterness towards the media for trying (and sometimes succeeding) to tell us you can’t be healthy and have a few rolls, which is certainly not the case. Health comes in so many different appearances, and no one really knows how healthy we feel but ourselves, which of course is what matters most!) But anyway, I’m sure you are all with me on this so I’ll stop preaching to the choir, I just like to occasionally mention it because I was not at all comfortable in my own skin until just a few years ago- oh the wonders a sweet partner and supportive friends can do! Ok, go tell yourself how smokin’ you are friends. : )
